Sailboats and Horizons

Painting sailboats is a way of capturing freedom and adventure. Each sailboat tells a story of exploration and of connection with the sea. They stand for the search for the horizon and the courage to face the unforeseeable.

I paint sailboats because I am drawn to their presence on the horizon: that light silhouette cut against the sea and the sky has something deeply painterly about it. This is not a series about sailing, but about the image of the sailboat itself as a compositional element, able to give life and scale to the whole, almost like an accent within the painting.

Each sailboat tells, without any need for words, a story of exploration and of a chosen course. Above all I am interested in the horizon, that line that is never quite reached and that stands for the constant search; I play with the scale between the lightness of the vessel and the immensity of the sea and sky that surround it.
