Orilla del Mediterráneo: From the Light of Calpe to the Architectural Space

Creative Process, Monumental Scale, and Installation

Born from a fascination with the coastline of Calpe and the distinct character of the Levantine shore, Orilla del Mediterráneo represents a large-scale challenge, 360 x 180 cm, designed to integrate into the architecture of a contemporary space. The artwork, conceived in two panels assembled with an almost imperceptible millimeter seam, translates to a grand scale the study of light, the sway of water on the sand, and the serene atmosphere of the Mediterranean.

The video documents the complete journey of this piece: from initial sketches and direct inspiration on the beach to the complex stages of work in the studio, where executing each brushstroke demands a constant physical dialogue with distance. You can also appreciate the transport and final installation at the collector’s residence in Madrid, showing how the painting harmonizes with natural light and the proportions of a large-volume architecture, turning the living space into a sanctuary of coastal calm.
