Mediterranean 13:18
Mediterranean 13:18
In this circular work, I explore the presence of the open sea from a purely bird’s-eye perspective. I eliminate any reference to the horizon to focus all attention on the enveloping rhythm of the waves and the deep blue density of the Mediterranean water. The round shape of the piece inevitably evokes a ship’s window or porthole, functioning as a peephole that isolates a fragment of the sea in full motion. I am interested in capturing the gentle contours of the crests and the way light is distributed across the surface, inviting a serene, hypnotic, and direct contemplation of the sea.
