Waves and Shores
Waves and Shores explores the twofold nature of the sea: the contained energy of the waves pierced by light and the almost contemplative serenity of the shores. A series centred on the movement of water, the chromatic richness of the different seas, and the fleeting texture of the foam that traces the meeting of water and land.
This series was born from years of observing the sea at different latitudes and under different conditions of light. I begin from the direct study of water —its transparency, its opacity, its shift in colour according to the hour and the sky— to build a series that swings between the abstraction of the swell and the serene figuration of the shore.
It is one of my most painterly series, where the texture of the acrylic becomes a protagonist alongside the sea landscape itself, and where the foam, fleeting and ever-changing, acts as a visual border between water and land.
